The Hexie Bowl Pattern from Sew Today, Clean Tomorrow
This week, I was lucky enough to test a brand new pattern by Rachael of Sew Today, Clean Tomorrow fame! She created the most adorable Hexie bowl PDF pattern that is available now over at Patterns Only. It’s a super quick sew and the pattern is very easy to follow.
(I love the Hexie Bowl pictured here with my Sleepy Cloud Pin Cushion. The pattern for the cloud is available in my store too!)
I’ve wanted to try English paper piecing and work with some hexies for a while now. So this little project was the perfect opportunity. The bowl construction is a little different to traditional paper piecing, in that you keep the paper or cardboard (used for the templates) in place, and it gives the bowl it’s shape.
My Aunt gave me a collection of stunning vintage Liberty fabric scraps a while ago, and these blue shades were the perfect choice for this project. It was lovely to use these precious fabric pieces for such a pretty piece.
If you’re looking for a great scrap busting project, that’s easy to make and perfect for a gift, then this is the pattern for you. You could fill them up with all sorts of goodies. Let me know if you make one. I’d LOVE to see it! And be sure to share your creations on the Molly and Mama facebook page. Or tag me on Instagram.
And look out for another hexie project coming very soon!
Happy stitching, Lauren x

Thanks so much for your lovely review of my pattern xx I love this bowl. The fabric is so beautiful. It looks especially gorgeous next to sleepy cloud (who is in the running for my favourite of your patterns….Percy Pineapple is currently in the lead LOL).
Fantastic Lauren, such a cute pattern and you have done a great job 🙂
Thanks so much Louise!
This is an adorable use of hexies and liberty scraps. The colors are especially delightful. I too, want to try EPP, and with hexies too. Now if someone would just give me some Liberty!
It’s addictive Wendy! You’ll love it.
